One day in 2016 in New York City, a bartender sketched a wolf onto a bar napkin while listening to “Search and Destroy” by Iggy and the Stooges. Today, that eye catching wolf is the logo of Sauce and Destroy, a one-person owned and operated company, now located in Southern Maine.
That bartender, founder and owner Alana, had a vision. From growing up watching and cooking sauces with her Mother, that gave her the drive to produce a hearty, simple jarred pasta sauce that could stand on its own with no doctoring up required.
Today Sauce and Destroy is lauded by several New England business. Stores from Portland to Boston find it difficult to keep any jars on the shelves. Her buyers share glowing reviews; Formaggio Kitchen in Cambridge, Massachusetts writes “their marinara is some of the best made in the U.S.” Shops and restaurants won’t want to miss out on this unique and versatile sauce.
